Webcomics United 104

I think this is a good time to be honest and say this is one of the few things I had planned ahead for this arc. I had this planned since... well, since I've defined the identity of the second Comix representative.

Anyway, this comic gave me more work than I thought, because of its layout. I had this strip's pace all worked beforehand, and I needed at least two panels before the double scene(one for the setup, other to show the two characters), and two after(one for the beat, other for the punchline). Problem was: this strip works with two rows of three columns. Unless I figured a way to make a big panel in a diagonal, that would be impossible. So I gave the setup one more panel and figured I could have the beat and punchline in smaller panels(though at first I thought of using them in the horizontal... but they were too narrow for that).

Anyway, I like the bigger panel. Except maybe the randomly squiggled shout-bubble...

Paragon, as you might remember, is a stand-in for indie comic Cerebus, while Lil' Spiral is an obvious Little Dot rip-off(hence her origins in the "Old City", i.e., where 1950's comic characters dwell). They're both very different from each other, and one can wonder why the Comix sent them, a lunatic anti-hero and an obsessive cutesy girl, to represent them in this meeting. Probably because their niche is guaranteed, so they just don't care anymore.

Either way, there's much more Paragon/Spiral crazy on the road. Well, at least for the next strip.

And now I gotta work on the Manga guys. I think my initial idea was stale from start, so now I'm undecided. =/
